Quality management systems increase process efficiencies and improve the product or service for the customer.

Often summarised as a ‘drive toward continual improvement’, Certification in Quality management is a formalised commitment to the principals of internationally recognised best practice.

Certification shows that an organisation is planning for and undertaking quality assurance. It has control of process and the ability to effect meaningful improvement.

ISO 9001 systems have been recognised internationally, as a means of reducing and managing error, waste and unnecessary loss of productivity.

EQS has a 10-year ‘track record’ of working across a variety of industries, helping Australian business first understand ISO 9001, and then implement a strategy to achieve on going certification in this evolving international standard

Steps to ISO:9001 certification readiness

Commitment

System effectiveness is limited by top management commitment.

Being committed means personal involvement of top management and giving support to others within the organisation.

Management’s commitment to achievement of quality safety and environment certification needs to be clearly communicated.

Gap Assessment

A thorough assessment of the current status of the existing

systems and processes against what is required. Here we gather evidence by

gaining input from staff, checking documents, and verifying outcomes. The result is a clear list of what needs to be done.

Changes and Awareness

Changes are implemented In consultation with staff members and management.

An information session for staff is required to make them aware of changes made, how it affects them, what is involved with certification

After changes are made, a follow up audit is needed to test that changes have been successful and are effective.

Follow up Audit

Once all is implemented and running, a further internal audit is

recommended to assess readiness for certification. This will give staff the

experience of a certification assessment and build confidence in what type of

questions they may be asked during an audit.
